Linzi & Daniel: A Woodland Ceremony and Farmhouse Celebration

An Arnos Vale Beginning

We started the morning at the beautiful Arnos Vale Cemetery in Bristol — its grand stone colonnades and towering columns giving us the most striking backdrop for portraits before the ceremony. There's something quietly moving about that setting: the weight of history in the architecture, paired with the lightness of two people about to start their next chapter. Linzi's sage green slip dress and lace kimono caught the light beautifully against the honey-coloured stone, and watching her and Daniel walk hand in hand down those steps, laughing, cowboy boots and all, set the tone for the relaxed, joy-filled day ahead.

Vows Under the Trees

From there, we moved out to the woods for the ceremony itself — a rustic, open-sided timber barn tucked among the greenery, dressed simply with sage and ivory ribbons, dried florals, and wildflower garlands threading through the beams. No fuss, no formality for formality's sake — just family and friends pressed close together under the corrugated roof, phones and cameras raised, waiting for Linzi to appear.

The emotion in that space was everything a wedding photographer hopes for. Daniel's face as he watched her walk in. The quiet moment where he pressed a kiss to her forehead mid-ceremony, unable to help himself. Her stepson standing proudly beside them, hand resting on his shoulder. Her father walking her those final steps. It's the kind of ceremony where you almost forget you're working, because you're just as swept up in it as the guests are.

Onto the Farm

After confetti showers (and there was a lot of confetti — the good kind, thrown by aunties and small boys with equal enthusiasm), we relocated to the farm for the reception, and the change of scenery was glorious.

Orchard trees heavy with apples, open fields rolling into the Somerset hills, and a beautifully dressed marquee with a flower-covered arch for the cake cutting. Even the moody grey sky that rolled in for their first dance worked in our favour — there's a real cinematic quality to a first dance shot against darkening storm clouds, foreheads pressed together while the whole crowd watches on.

Some of my favourite images from the whole day came from the quieter in-between moments on the farm: Daniel swigging straight from a champagne bottle while Linzi's hair caught the wind, the two of them walking off across a sun-bleached field like they'd completely forgotten anyone was watching. That's the stuff you can't stage — you just have to be ready for it.

The Girls, The Tractor, and Genuinely Great Fun

No wedding blog is complete without a mention of the group shots that make you laugh while you're editing them back at your desk.

The bridal party and friends piled onto (and around) a vintage blue tractor, someone brandishing a champagne bottle like a trophy, everyone shrieking with laughter — this is the kind of image that ends up framed on a hallway wall for the next fifty years.

Evie and the Photo Booth

This was one of those weddings where having a second photographer really paid off. While I was focused on Linzi and Daniel through the ceremony and key moments, Evie was working the crowd — catching guests mid-laugh, capturing the details, and keeping our photo booth running all evening.

That booth turned out to be an unexpected highlight; there's nothing quite like the joy on people's faces (or the props they choose) once a couple of drinks are in and the dance floor's warming up.

A Day Worth Remembering

Woodland vows, farmhouse feasting, a tractor full of bridesmaids, and a couple who were clearly, unmistakably head over heels — Linzi and Daniel's wedding had all the ingredients of a day I'll be thinking about for a long time. Huge thanks to them for trusting me and Evie to capture it, and to their families and friends for making it such a warm, welcoming day to be part of.

Congratulations, Linzi and Daniel — here's to many more adventures together.
